Traffic Traffic Traffic

Ever heard anybody say they have too much traffic? It never happens. You can never have too much traffic.

Whatever you do online, traffic is the lifeblood of your business. Without it, you have nothing. Zero. You may have the best product in the world but if nobody sees it you’l never sell a single unit. But traffic has always been something people have struggled with.

“Another Google update….” Does this sound familiar? People chase their tales trying to get on top of google, trying to beat them. Its the wrong way to operate. There are much better ways of getting as much free traffic as you like.

People are looking at it from the wrong direction. Getting traffic is easy. You just need to know how to get it for free. Everybody wants something for free but as the old saying goes, there is no such thing as a free lunch!¬†Everything takes work but if you are prepared to put a little time and effort in then your traffic won’t cost you a dime.

First lets look where you can get traffic from.

Adwords

Adwords was one of the first networks to offer pay per click advertising to the masses. Ran by Google, Adwords is the ultimate source of traffic but their terms and conditions are tight to say the least. You need to read them and abide by them. They are extremely finicky about what you can and can’t do on their network so make sure you read the rules.

You get a a headline, a short description and a link to convince people to click the ad and come through to your page.

Facebook

Facebook advertising is almost the same as adwords, with one crucial difference. Facebook allows you to laser target your advertising. You can choose very specific groups of people to send your advert too.

Facebook also allows a lot more things that are pretty much banned on the Adwords network. Facebook are much more tolerant of affiliate marketing for instance, but they do still have a very strict set of rules that you must follow.

You also have a lot more other options available to you.

Twitter

Twitter is yet another PPC platform. The advert blend in with the feeds…

It really doesn’t matter which source you choose as long as you follow the crucial rules for getting the most out of your traffic and more importantly, sending the correct traffic to your site.

How to Get Free Traffic

To get your traffic free you need to make your visitors pay for it. You need to sell them something very cheap. Seven dollars usually does the trick. The aim here isn’t to make a profit, the aim is to pay for your traffic that you are either going to sell something more expensive or add to your list (so you can sell to them later!).

The exact process is shown in our free handout but its really basic maths. A certain percentage of your visitors will need to buy the $7 offering to make your traffic free. Your job is to tweak the landing page before you go bankrupt!

Luckily there are proven techniques you can learn to almost guarantee your landing page is a success. But more on that later.

First, you need to calculate what conversion you need to achieve on your page :

Required Conversion Of Your Squeeze Page (%) = (cpc/7) * 100

Where cpc is the cost per click for your advertising. 14 or 15 percent is pretty normal but if you get much higher than this it becomes extremely difficult to break even. For every 100 people that visit your page, you would need 15 of them to buy your product. Or to put it another way, ever 6 people that visit need to buy your $7 product for your campaign to break even.

There is an excellent free handout on maximising conversions on landing pages, you should go and get it now.

Don’t let this discourage you, even if you don’t break even you can still get them on your list and have another chance to sell to them again later. In fact this is a crucial step to get the most out of your mailing list.
